2 experiments were
conducted to understand the concept of the effects of wind and water on soil.
2 students were asked
to fan 2 objects; one potted plant and a tray with soil. The root of the plant
holds the soil firmly hence no soil particles were dispersed however the soil
kept in tray was blown away due to the wind. This demonstrates how soil erosion
takes place at barren land and explains us that planting trees is essential to
prevent soil erosion.
Another experiment was
conducted where one tray was placed on a flat surface and another tray was kept
tilted. Water was poured over the soil and students were asked to observe.
The soil remained in
place in the first box however the soil in second tray was washed away.
The students learnt
that more soil erosion is caused by water flowing downwards a slope.
