Grade 3 DNT - straw flute - 8'th Nov 2017

Students were given a straw each and they they cut the tip to make a straw flute. They blew air and could hear the sound the sound increased as they cut the straw.
Blowing air at the end of the straw makes the two pieces of the tip vibrate together. The vibration travels down the straw, and this sets up a wave in the air in the straw. The vibration will bounce back and forth between the two ends. The vibration moves through air molecules in the atmosphere until it hits your ear drum. It is this vibration THAT we hear. Changing the length of the straw changes the time necessary for the vibration to travel up or down the straw, and so changes the pitch.

Grade 3 DNT - roll back can - 1'st Nov 2017

Students rolled the can individually and saw how the candle moved back towards them after going forward some distance. Students learnt that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only be converted from form to the other. In the case of the rollback can, kinetic energy is transformed into an easily observable example of elastic potential energy, which is then transformed back into kinetic energy.
Teacher discussed with students about some more examples where energy is converted from one form to the other.  Students also showed the demonstration of the same.

DNT - Grade 2 B ( Optical Illusion) – 8th Nov’17

Kids were given cutouts of paper sheets. They drew pond on one sheet and fish on other sheet. They coloured the pond and fish then stuck the pencil between the two sheets.
Kids hold the pencil between their palms and spin the pencil. In this way they learnt the concept of Optical illusion.
